| Who We Are: |
| The Memphis School of Servant Leadership is one of many independently run Schools of Servant Leadership around the country. The first Servant Leadership School was founded in 1990 in Washington, D.C. as part of the Church of the Saviour’s goal to begin “a seminary for all people”. The School in Memphis was started in 1997 by an ecumenical group of lay and clergy leaders and offered an average of two classes each term. The School has grown to the point now where we offer an average of eight classes in addition to seminars and events. We have two groups that in essence serve as our Board of Directors. These groups drive the direction and effectiveness of the School. The “Mission Group” meets weekly to share accountability for a covenant life of prayer and reflection, stewardship of resources, and learning from our ongoing relationships with persons made poor and marginal in our culture. The Mission Group imagines, plans, and implements the work of the School in raising up Christian servant leaders for the church and the world. Mission Group Members: Evelyn Baker, Debra Brittenum, Kathleen Kruczek, Barbara Vann, Billy Vaughan, Susan Yates and Nancy Wiers. The “Support Community” meets four to six times a year to support the ongoing work of the School in areas of its mission. This group also provides feedback and reflection on how well the School is living into its mission. Support Community Members: Bill Clemmons, Paul DeKar, Kristen Fox-Trautman, Mary Margaret Hicks, Nathan Hill, Polly Hofmann, Jeff Irwin, Onie Johns, Tom Momberg, Joe Porter, Clive Slaughter, Jeanne Varnell. |
